Yonca's Experiences With Teaching English

  Hi everyone:)  Our task was to create a AI integrated material. My partner Yaren Güleç and I decided to do this task based on the 17th unit of the coursebook which is "Foods" and a vocabulary activity appealed to us more than the other options. Once again we found a template on Canva and created our worksheet which asks students to create a meal and a dessert recipe with the help of ChatGPT. This process was enjoyable for us and this material would be beneficial for the students as it requires them to know how to use ChatGPT efficiently.  Here is our work ! 

Hi everyone :) Our assignment was to design a teaching material using AR/VR. My partner Yaren Güleç  and I decided to do the "exploring a city" option and we chose our city as Beijing. The selection process was a bit difficult since the cities we wanted to do did not have any famous landmarks that has a proper 360 video.  After deciding the place, we found the necessary videos. Then we found an amazing template on Canva which was originally a lunar new year food menu! We altered the template into our own liking and started to watch the videos and picked the questions. Using AR/VR in English teaching is quite fun and innovative for the students. Choosing the right content is a little tricky but a skillful teacher would not have any problems :)Overall, we had fun and despite the difficulties we would use it again. Here is our work.

 Hi everyone :) First, I should explain what a flipped classroom is. It is an approach where the learning material is given outside the classroom in a technological tool, and in-class, there is more time to practice and use different activities to enhance the learning process.  The advantages of this approach in language classes, the students are free to listen and watch the video that is provided whenever they feel is the most appropriate time. They can watch it over and over again to make sure that they have learned the topic adequately whereas in a traditional, in-class approach they are not able to achieve that.   As for the disadvantages, access to technology may be not possible for each student. Hi everyone :)  Me and my friend Yaren  designed a corpus-based activity that enhances the learning experience for the students. Our target audience was prep class and our topic was teaching the difference between "already, just, yet" and how to use them correctly.  In our activity designing process, we aimed that our students would be able to discriminate the mentioned time expressions accurately by completing the worksheet. Another goal was to direct students into using the corpus tools effectively. Furthermore, with the help of these activities, they will be able to improve their grammatical, technological, and communication-based skills.  Before we started to design our worksheet, we brainstormed our ideas and decided which activity would be suitable for our target audience and their proficiency level.   Hi everyone:) This is the last post that I will be sharing. The course I've been taking through this semester (Educational Technologies) has come to an end.  Even before taking this course, my thoughts towards the technology integration into education were very positive. I always believed that all teacher candidates' target audience will be born into the technology era or if not, they will have a great amount of experience and knowledge about technology. So using the technology as a tool to strenghten the core knowledge of the English language makes great sense for me. This course has helped me a lot because even though I had some background knowledge about technology, I was definitely not in a position to transfer my information to another person using the technology effectively.   Hi everyone:) This time, our assignment was to create a digital story. We were given three options and these options were creating a PSA, a how to project or a fictional story. My group, which consists of my dear friends  Yaren  and  Buğra , chose to do the how to projects because we thought it would be fun to do it together and easier to manage.  First we decided on which type of how to video we were going to do, and after some research and brainstorming we selected the video as a cooking recipe for a vegetable noodle. Then we assigned the roles. My duty was to film the video. According to the recipe, I gathered the ingredients and started to shoot the video. After finishing the drafts, I sent the video to my dear  Yaren. She did the reading of the transcript we wrote collectively.
